Climate contribution
We want to take responsibility.
CO2 emissions that are unavoidable at Thermopad are recalculated annually and partially offset by verified climate protection projects .
Thermopad supports the global climate protection project: “Marine Protection Plastic Bank”
Over 8 million tons of plastic waste end up in the sea every year. In Haiti, Indonesia, Brazil and the Philippines, local residents collect plastic waste. At collection points, plastic can be exchanged for money, food, drinking water or even school fees.
The project ensures that less plastic ends up in the sea. Instead, it is recycled and processed into so-called social plastic, which serves as a raw material for new products, such as packaging.
How does climate protection work with plastic-free oceans?
The ocean stores a quarter of the CO2 from the atmosphere and as much as 93 percent of the heat from the greenhouse effect – making it a major brake on climate change. Warming, overfishing, pollutants and waste are jeopardizing this balancing function.
ClimatePartner protects marine conservation initiatives in combination with internationally recognized climate protection projects.
The “Climate Contribution” label confirms that we have the emissions of individual products calculated and finance climate protection projects in the amount of the calculated emissions. In this way, we are also helping to close the enormous financing gap in global climate protection.
1. Calculation of CO2 emissions:
We identify the relevant sources of CO2 emissions associated with our products on an annual basis and use this information to develop measures to prevent and reduce emissions. When calculating the carbon footprint, CO2 emissions resulting from factors such as the materials used, the production process, and logistics are taken into account.
2. Offsetting CO2 emissions through a climate protection project:
Climate protection projects reduce CO2 emissions. By supporting these projects, we can at least partially offset the CO2 emissions caused by our products. All projects are regularly audited by independent organizations and are certified according to international standards.
3. Product labeling with the “Climate Contribution” label:
Thermopads bearing the “Climate Contribution” label directly support the respective climate protection projects. For more information about our climate neutrality, please visit www.climatepartner.com/14366-2002-1001.
