Application notes

The heat development of our thermopads depends on the following components: Ambient temperature, oxygen, insulation and dry environment.
The reaction can therefore vary slightly for each warmer.
The respective instructions for use must be observed.
For example, most thermal pads require an insulating layer (e.g. shoes, clothing, gloves, etc.).
This is the only way to control the circulating air and thus the heat development.
Or to put it another way, the best heating in an apartment is useless if the windows are wide open.
The warmers only contain non-toxic substances and must be disposed of with the residual waste.
The foil packaging must be disposed of in the yellow bag.
All Thermopad packaging has the Green Dot.
Depending on the warmer type and storage conditions, the warmers generally have a shelf life of several years.
In individual cases, please check the expiration date printed on the warmer.
However, the warmer can only be used once.
After the expiration date, the typical properties of an activated charcoal warmer decrease.
The maximum temperature will increase and the specified heating time will be undercut.
Please bear this in mind if you use the warmer after the expiration date.
Maximum temperature: Highest value from ten random samples during the entire heating period.
The maximum value is not exceeded, but can also be 30% lower in individual cases.
Average temperature: The average temperature of ten samples during the heating period, i.e. during which the warmer exceeds a temperature range defined for each warmer type, is +/- 10% of the specified value.
Heat duration: Average duration for eight samples during which the warmer exceeds a temperature range defined for each warmer type.
This is usually higher than the specified value, i.e. the actual heating time is likely to be longer than specified, in contrast to non-Japanese products.

The heat generated by the thermopads should be transported and distributed throughout the body by the blood circulation.
However, this process can be disrupted if the warmer is pressed firmly against the skin, slowing down blood circulation. This can also happen during sleep.
In this case, the heat cannot be optimally distributed and is concentrated on only a small area of skin, which heats up disproportionately.
Slight burns can be the result.
This symptom is called “low temperature burn“.
If this occurs due to improper use, the affected area of skin should be cooled and a doctor consulted.
Under normal circumstances, it is impossible for a fire to start.
However, as soon as a number of factors outside the normal use of a Thermopad warmer come together (highly concentrated oxygen in combination with a large number of open Thermopads), a fire can start.
The ingredients of the warmers are non-toxic.
However, there is a risk of swallowing or inhaling the ingredients.
Furthermore, children may not be able to assess the heat development correctly.
For these reasons, the warmers are unsuitable for children under the age of 6.
The ingredients of the warmers are non-toxic.
However, there is a risk of “swallowing” or inhaling the ingredients.
In this case, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
All thermal pads generate heat, which may be perceived as too hot if used excessively.
To avoid burns, the warmers must be removed immediately if they are too hot.
People with sensory disorders (e.g. diabetics, PAD patients, people with paralysis, etc.) may not be able to feel the heat and therefore cannot assess if the temperature is too high.
Thermopads generate heat at different maximum temperatures, and some warmers also have an adhesive textile surface.
The combination of the respective properties dictates the appropriate application for each individual warmer.
Incorrect use may result in minor burns to the skin, so the warmers should only be used in accordance with the instructions for use.

The roots of activated carbon heaters go back to the years 1950-1953.
At that time, it was discovered that iron heats up quickly when it oxidizes.
An American soldier deployed in the cold on the Korean peninsula harnessed this chemical process by putting iron powder and salt in a container and using it as a warmer.
In 1978, disposable warmers in their current form were produced for the first time.
There are now over 150 different types of activated charcoal heaters in Japan for a wide variety of purposes.
When the feet cool down, the blood vessels in the nose contract.
The reduced blood flow restricts the immune defense.
Cold viruses, which are always present anyway, then have an easy time of it.
That’s why we recommend our foot warmers.
Available as toe warmers or sole warmers.
And you’ll never have cold feet again!
It is neither due to clothing that is too airy, nor to hormonal balance, nor to a different body temperature.
Above all, it is due to the average (!) fat percentage, which is around 25 % for women and only 15 % for men.
Men, on the other hand, have a higher proportion of muscles and metabolically active body mass.
As the tissue with the best blood supply, the muscles act as internal heating.
Another reason for the increased sensation of cold in women is their thin skin.
The male epidermis is around 15 % thicker than the female.
However, this is not due to the effect that thicker skin provides more insulation than thinner skin.
If there is a risk of heat loss, the blood flow to the skin is reduced, which works better with thin skin.
This means that the temperature difference between the inside of the body and the surface of the skin is greater than in men.
So please don’t take it as whining if “she” is cold again, it is anatomically and medically justifiable.
And after all, you can help.
As long as evolution does not compensate for these disadvantages in other ways, there are fortunately thermal pads.
Incidentally, 55% of our private customers are women.
At least the ones who order.
We don’t know what percentage of the pads purchased are used by women.
But maybe we’ll start a survey soon.
